What's new on May 31?

Ten days ago, my good friend Jeff Williams passed away. He was 40.

Jeff was insanely talented, generous, hilarious, intelligent, and giving. At times, he could also be petty and mean. Many people, including myself, had a difficult relationship with him. But sometime in 2001, he decided to reach out and mend the bridges he had burned, and I'm so glad he did, because I would have missed out on a great friendship. He tied tragically young, but I feel like I got a lifetime of memories in our brief time as friends.

Jeff's many talents included acting, writing, photography, and directing. His last gig was directing "Yes, Mamet" for its Off-Off-Broadway debut. His obit, which he wrote, is here.

In other news…

Yes, Mamet was selected as a semi-finalist for the Nantucket Short Play Festival! I don't know if it will be staged, but it's quite an honor, as only ten plays out of more than 160 were selected.

Something Went Wrong. will be staged by Original Works Publishing in Hollywood as part of their First Fridays series. Stay tuned for production dates!

Finally, I got offers to have a few of my plays published! I'll post details once contracts have been signed and hands have been shaked!

Still waiting to hear about some local short-play festivals…so keep checking back for updates.

Y'all be good to each other,
Matt
